Bali’s Mount Agung has been seeing a steady increase in activity and it’s possible that it could erupt at any time. Over 100,000 people have been evacuated from the area as tremors continue shaking the ground.

The zone to avoid around the volcano is 7.5 miles, and an eruption is pretty much imminent. There is smoke coming out the top of the volcano and the danger alert is currently set at the highest possible level.

Officials want tourists to know that outside of the danger zone it should still be considered safe to travel to Bali. However, the Bali International Airport is close enough to the volcano that it will be closed should the volcano choose to erupt.

They already have a plan for where to divert the flights to other places in Bali if/when that airport needs to shut down due to the ash and gasses in the area.
