China will have one or more high-speed bullet train within three years. The trains will be capable of reaching speeds of 250 MPH and are expected to reduce both travel time as well as energy consumption.
Qiao Feng, an engineer at the CRRC Changchun Railway Vehicles Co. spoke out about the plan.
“We will apply new materials in the research and production of the future high-speed trains, such as carbon fiber and aluminum alloy, which will help reduce weight and enhance energy efficiency.”
The trains are being created for markets with the goal of connecting Asia, Europe, and Africa at old trade sites. This will also allow for new travel options for people that live in some very congested areas.
The trains will first be tested on the Beijing-Shenyang high-speed railway which will debut in 2019, followed by a release in 2020 if all goes as planned.
