Dubai is planning to open a second airport which would become the world’s largest airport. The current plans would put the airport at 35,000 acres in size and cost $35.7 billion to build. Once completed it could see 220 million people each year.

The air traffic at the current Dubai airport has increased 13 percent over the past five years, and it is expected that within a year the numbers will rise from 83 million to 90 million, making it the busiest airport there is.

By the time the new airport opens, they are expecting that the two airports will see a combined 146 million people each year.

The new airport will be located within the 54 square mile Dubai World Central, which will also have places to live, a golf course, and offices.
