Emirates has announced that they will reduce flights to the U.S. due to Donald Trump’s travel policies. A spokesperson for the airline has spoken out about the decision.
“This is a commercial decision in response to weakened travel demand to US. The recent actions taken by the US government relating to the issuance of entry visas, heightened security vetting and restrictions on electronic devices in aircraft cabins have had a direct impact on consumer interest and demand for air travel into the US.”
The airline will start by reducing it’s flights to Florida starting May 1. Some of their services will go down from seven days to five days a week, while other will go down from twice a day to once a day. Seattle, Boston, and Los Angeles are some of the cities that will now have a single service each day.
The airline also mentioned that these changes could be temporary depending on how the policies move forward from here. They said that “we will redeploy capacity to serve demand on other routes on our global network.”
