Facebook and Live Nation to work together to organize concert tours more easily. In the last year, Facebook has seen a 40% growth in the number of users that engage in event pages created on Facebook, over a whopping 550 million every month. Facebook has asked its entertainment partners for better tools in handling this increasing use of the events pages option.
As a result, they are testing a new feature that will allow managers, promoters, and artists the ability to manage, view and organize tour related Facebook event pages, Facebook told The Verge. If artists have a long tour with multiple performances, and/or appearances, and have an event page for each one, this new feature will group all of those event pages together for better more easier handling.
Facebook Events product manager, Bruna de Goes, said that:
We’ve heard from our partners, and especially our entertainment partners, that posting their events on Facebook drives RSVPs and ticket sales. They’ve also told us that for recurring events like tours, there hadn’t been an easy tool on Facebook. So, we’re testing a feature allowing Event admins to more easily share multiple Facebook Events together as a series or tour.
Facebook is increasing the services related to the music industry. In 2016 it integrated Ticketmaster’s API into its network to allow users to find tickets directly from the event posting of an artist. And with this new feature, the standalone Facebook Events app can be the best thing to connect artists and fans, helping in making the best possible concert experiences for all that are involved.
The new features are currently being tested with Live Nation and Red Light Management. They manage bands such as Dave Matthews Band, Alabama Shakes, and Phish. Red Light Management’s digital strategy head, Jennifer Bird, told The Verge:
Working with Facebook to ensure that artists are able to effectively promote their tours has long been a top priority for us. Tour messaging isn’t just about selling tickets. We want to build lasting relationships wherever artists reach their fans and these new features help us do just that.
