After a few different hurricanes in a row, there has been quite a bit of destruction on land, but there might be good news for the living creatures of the water. Experts say that the dolphin population could now experience a baby boom.

The connection between hurricanes and an increase in dolphin bursts was first discovered following Hurricane Katrina. The biologists from the University of Southern Mississippi noticed this phenomenon in 2007, two years following the storm.

One theory about this has to do with the fishing industry. The hurricanes tend to put a halt to commercial fishing, which then leaves more food for the dolphins. The better fed the dolphins are, the more likely that healthy babies are born and nourished.
