A new study suggests that millennial women seem to be the least likely out of anyone to use their vacation days. In the U.S. last year there were 662 million untaken vacation days, which is four million more than in 2015.

As to why there’s a variation between the amount of vacation time that people take, the researchers point to seniority, debt, position, budget, etc.

“Millennial student loan debt is one of the factors, but so is home and car ownership.”

The study found that women are actually more likely to say that vacation is important to them, but that only 44 percent of women actually use the time that they have available to take off. The report states the following.

“This disconnect between belief and behavior only worsens among Millennial women who, despite being more fervent believers in the benefits of time off than their male counterparts, take less time off (44 percent millennial women vs. 51 percent Millennial men) due to an overwhelming amount of reported guilt, fear, and work martyr habits.”
