The Gulf Coast has opened its first new amusement park in ten years. This is the first time that a park has opened since the Six Flags in Louisiana was shut down in 2005 after Hurricane Katrina.

The Park at OWA has now opened in Foley, Alabama. It offers 20 different rides as well as restaurants and other attractions. The park was opened by The Poarch Band of Creek Indians. Spokesperson Stephanie A. Bryan explained.

“As a tribe, we have worked hard to ensure that our businesses bring revenue and jobs into the state and add to the quality of life in the rural communities where they are located.”

Foley’s Mayor John Koniar believed that the park will start bringing in more tourism.

“That is sort of a no-brainer on the positivity of it. OWA is going to be very big for the whole area.”
