A new report from AAA has found that U.S. travel tends to increase in the fall. Between Labor Day and Thanksgiving, some 28 percent of people make plans to take a trip. Of those people, 68 percent of them choose road tripping as their travel option.

Some of the suspected reasons for the fall travel increase include cooler weather and fewer crowds after kids are back in school. There also happens to be a lot of seasonal events through the fall season.

AAA senior vice president Bill Sutherland released a statement about the travel trend.

“We have seen strong demand for travel throughout the course of the year, and Americans are discovering that traveling during the fall season is a best-kept secret. Travelers increasingly prioritize immersive travel experiences and autumn offers more opportunities for them to explore a destination’s local culture, thanks to fewer crowds and mild weather.”
