The U.S. State Department is now warning travelers of potentially tainted alcohol in Mexico. There have been multiple reports of injuries, sexual assaults, and even a death after just a few drinks.

They are warning people to be highly aware while they drinking and be aware of where the alcohol is coming from. They also urge anyone with symptoms of alcohol poising to immediately contact the U.S. embassy.

A spokesman for the Iberostar resorts released a statement about the potential dangers.

“We reiterate that we are deeply saddened by this incident and that we take this matter very seriously – our heart is with the family and has been from the moment the incident occurred several months ago. Only purchase sealed bottles (of alcohol) that satisfy all standards required by the designated regulatory authorities.”
