United Airlines CEO Oscar Munoz will reportedly be stepping down as chairman of the company and a replacement will fill the position next year. By now most people are familiar with the controversy surrounding United Airlines.
Earlier this month video was released of a passenger being dragged off an overbooked flight, being bloodied in the process. At the time Oscar followed with a statement about “re-accommodating” passengers that angered people even more.
Oscar initially claimed that no one was getting fired due to the incident and that he was also not resigning, but it seems that he has changed his mind.
The airline explains that it was his decision to step down and that he “desires to remove the provisions…related to the future appointment of Executive as Chairman of the Board.” A federal filing about the decision was made on Friday.
