If you have tried to load the PC version of Sonic Mania while your Steam account is offline then you get a message from the game asking you to login to Steam to play the game.
Looks like Sonia Mania has now been applied with the much infamous anti-tamper – Denuvo by Sega. Denuvo restricts all players who are in the offline mode to unlock the game. Unless of course, the game gets an update the gamers would have to play the PC version while being online.
For those who would be interested to play the game while traveling would have to boot the game while staying connected to the internet keep the game running in the background and then disconnect from the internet as you are ready to play – however this may not be an ideal plan.
Immediately after its launch this Tuesday, when there were complaints, received, one of the Sonic Mania staffers mentioned on the official page of Steam that “Sonic Mania was supposed to be played offline and they were investigating about it.”
Steam’s pre-sale charts were touching the top of charts earlier this month and Denuvo was not mentioned in this store page. However, there was a change made and the post explained that Sonic Mania’s Steam Store page to mention about Denuvo was an error which was being fixed. The Steam’s store page now clearly mentions about Denuvo’s presence on the game.
PR Manager of Sonic The Hedgehog, Aaron Webber posted a weird comment, he asked the Sonia Mania fans to complain directly to Sega about using Denuvo on the game.
As for the PC port of Sonic Mania, the glitches on the console version have been fixed and the game runs smoothly – provided you are online, at least for now.
Players are still hoping to crack Denuvo to play it offline.
